10 Fall Things Every Fashion Girl Looks Forward To

We’re bout a month passed the first day of fall and I’m pretty sure y’all are as pissed off as me about this weak Fall Jr. weather like summer is really trying to stretch itself out. (Like you’re done, you’re over, get off the stage!) As fashion girls, we take pride in looking good all year but when the weather drastically changes, we’re thinking about more than just adjusting to new weather. We’re thinking about these looks that are about to be served! Fall to a fashion girl is almost like when we went back to school shopping for new clothes and plotted on how we were going to make all the girls hate us this school year! So I decided to make a fun list of the things us fashion girls look forward to every fall and hopefully you might get some fall shopping inspo from what I’ve put together.

New Boots!

Fashion girl or not, EVERY girl gets new boots every AW (that’s Autumn/Winter for those who don’t know)! Boots are the sandal of fall and winter. And not only do you have to have boots, you have to have bomb, bad ass boots. Thigh high boots have been on trend throughout this entire year (including the summer, which I was shocked about at first then quickly fell in love with the boots & summer pieces looks) so you know they’re gonna not only keep you warm but give you that fierce drama look this fall and winter. I’ve had my eye on a few pairs that I’m hoping to purchase soon, including a pair from Zara that I’m waiting for them to restock (like I’m so annoyed). Thigh high boots, ankle boots, calf-high boots, look each and every last kind of boot are going to be on this season! (P.S. I know y’all saw the YSL Boots Rihanna posted on Instagram last week like somebody please bless my bank account because I neeeeeeeed!) Statement Coat/Jackets

Every year, I always start thinking about what kind of coat I want for AW. Of course, I end up with more than one coat but I like to have a main, go-to coat that I can throw over almost any outfit, especially when it’s not apart of my look and it’s only purpose is to keep me warm from point A to B. I never know! I’m so bad at forecasting jacket & coat trends. I almost never go with them for my go-to jacket/coat anyway. I never know what type of coat I want until I see it. For this year, I think I’m going to go with an even warmer and similar version of the one I have from last year. Which I still looooooooove. I call her my Amelia Earhart. (You have to name your pieces that you’re most found of! Lmaoooooooo.)

Dark Lippies & Nails

If anyone cares, my favorite cold weather lippie is Embellish by ColourPop! It’s the PERFECT shade of dark brown like perrrrfectttt. I think it was limited edition, I’m not even sure. I hope not because I need a lifetime supply of these. I tried so hard to make it work in the summer but it just didn’t. I also love a strong, deep burgundy lip and a bold red lip for cold weather. I don’t believe I even have a burgundy lippie in my collection (*races to ColourPop’s website*). By the way, I 100% stand by ColourPop’s ultra matte lippies. Only $6 for an amazing formula and color payoff. You’re practically robbing them at that price for the quality. (Buy I will say that some of the lighter colors have an off consistency and can be a little streaky if you don’t apply the perfect amount.) Let me tell you something about red lipstick (my fav is Ruby Woo by MAC, I loved RiRi Woo even more btw), you HAVE to find your right shade of red! It has to go with your undertones to fit you perfectly. (Go ahead and research that because I don’t want to be the one to steer you wrong because I’m far from a undertone expert.) My top two fav nail colors are dark brown and burgundy! The brown I consistently use is Nirvana (949) by Sinful Colors, which I need to re-up on. I haven’t found a burgundy I’m completely in love with but I know I love Sinful Colors brand so I’m hoping to find the shade I’m looking for with them for this fall. Something Burgundy

Burgundy is hands down my favorite cold weather color! It just speaks high quality and sophistication to me. The color looks amazing on all skin tones (especially deeper ones)! I’m hoping to find a burgundy statement piece for this AW but if I don’t, I’ll just have to make one! (I might try to make my own winter coat this year, stay tuned for that!)

Perfecting the Layering Technique

Because it’s starts to cool off during fall, layering is essential! And you can’t just throw layers on, there’s a technique to it that is very hit or miss. You can either look like you dressed for warmth or pull it off and simultaneously be warm. It’s a trial and error thing that we keep mixing and matching and include staples and new trends together to pull off these perfect fall looks every season. I, personally, enjoy playing dress up to find the right formulas. I’ve always been a mix & matcher so I appreciate all the texture and pattern mashups that fall brings. Fall for some reason is dedicated to bomb looks... until everyone’s tired of the cold and are begging for summer looks and hoe clothes to come back! Cozy Knits

I’m so comfortable and used to low cuts and skin out that sweaters and knits are a challenge for me. I’m starting to work my way into it but I’m in the process of finding ways to wear sweaters without styling them in preppy or comfy/relaxed looks. I feel like I have to start embracing the boxy look and add feminine touches to it like fitted skirts or different texture pants. Y’all are gonna see me in some sweater looks this fall, just wait. Putting fashion and looks to the side, I know I’m not the only one who likes to wear their softest sweaters and knits around the house during the colder seasons. (My mom has this baby blue longline sweater cardigan that will eventually be mine and it is the comfiest thing ever!) They’re just too comfy not to!

Yummy Fall Scents & Flavors

I swear the fall flavors and scents come out before the weather breaks, every year. All the pumpkin spice, cinnamon, latte, candle EVERYTHING really set the season. You cannot tell me that those scents and flavors don’t make you warm inside. And everybody just loooooves the Bath & Body Works candles like I feel peer pressured into getting into it this year! Last holiday season, I worked at Williams-Sonoma and if you're familiar with the store than you know where I'm going with this. The Peppermint Bark and the Ooey Gooey Pumpkin Bar are ittttttttttttt! I'm stocking up on Peppermint Bark to last me until next season this time. If you haven't tried either, especially the Peppermint Bark, you truly are not living. I’m a regular coffee type of girl and I’ve never tried any of the super extra Starbucks drinks everybody’s always talking about. Like for real are y’all hyping it or are they really that good? I might try a flavor or two this season.

The Perfect Wind (for that wind in your walk look)

Fall wind is your frienddddddd! I have somehow mastered the wind in your walk look through all seasons, most likely because I walk so fast (I walk like I’m in NYC on a crowded sidewalk like 99% of the time). Fall brings that perfect wind that sweeps your hair back with every step and pushes the flaps of your jacket back oh so perfectly. Like I know I’m not the only one who wishes they were being recorded waking down the street during fall, in a bomb fit, with my hot chocolate in hand! You can just feeeeel the look being served!

Halloween Costumes

You cannot beat a handmade or regular clothes costume! Fashion girls and guys know that you have to be as authentic and real with Halloween costumes as with a real look. The costume in a bag looks are CHEATING and UGLY af! Cut it out. I’m probably not celebrating Halloween this year but I still might dress up just for the pictures! You have to get creative with these costumes. You either have to make the costume look real, step out the box with your costume idea, or look corny. Please don’t be the latter this year. It’s 2017 and you know every year comes with more creative and innovative ideas and execution. I’m looking forward to Halloween ‘18 though. My bestfriend will be in NY with me and we have planssssss. (Me on Halloween 2015 to the left)

Showing Up to Thanksgiving Dinner Looking like the Kim K of the Family

When you’re the Kim K of the family, the Thanksgiving look and eating are equally important! You have to come dressed down and remind everyone that you are indeed the fashion-forward diva of the family. And you know they love pictures and you can’t be in those pictures looking a mess because you know every cousin, half-uncle, and neighbor are gonna see those pictures until Christmas. Thanksgiving dinner is the perfect time to serve a fall look!

At this point, I'm extremely pressed for real fall weather and sick of summer trying to stretch itself out. Comment below and be salty with me and let me know what else you're looking forward to this fall season!
